Other Sports

From time to time BLAGSS organises ‘one off taster events’ to enable members to try new sports and assess demand for the future. Some are enjoyed as a ‘one off’ and others become regulars activities.

In the past activities have included Beach Volleyball, Beach Football, Beach Tennis, Cricket, Sailing and Swimming - some activities are not sustainable as a stand alone BLAGSS session, some members find pathways and participate at other clubs and others form ‘What’s App’ groups and participate together when they can. Details of the informal ‘What’s App’ groups are detailed below.

EuroGames Vienna 17th - 20th July 2024

The EuroGames is Europe's largest LGBTIQ+ sports event, celebrating diversity, equality, and inclusion through sports and culture. The event runs from 17th to 20th July and has 35 different sports that individuals can participate in, there is also an opening and closing ceremony.  A proper European LGBTQ+ Olympics!  Full details at https://eurogames2024.at/

BLAGSS have joined the EGSLF (European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation) which means that all BLAGSS members can access the lower EGSLF registration fee of €90 (instead of €110).  For most sports there are no additional registration fees, although some sports do have a further "sports" fee.  For full details see the relevant sport on the website above.  

This investment is part of the BLAGSS committee's initiative to increase the options for competition across our sports and highlight the profile of BLAGSS across Europe with a view to attending the Gay Games (the worldwide LGBTQ+ games) in Valencia in 2026!  There is also another EuroGames in Lyon next year.
