Badminton

The BLAGSS badminton group is a mixed ability group who play doubles and mixed doubles games.

All interested badminton players are welcome to come along. We have players with a wide range of abilities, so you should be able to have some good matches, whether you're an experienced player or haven't played for years.

Players range from league-level players to beginners and the group is truly mixed ability, giving everyone the opportunity to have a fun-filled evening.

Where and When We Play

We have returned to our regular venue and timings. The coaching sessions remain paused until further notice.

Where: Brighton Girls School, Temple Gardens, BN1 3AT. The sports hall is the modern grey building accessed through the gates that look like a butterfly, near Montpelier Road. Parking is available next door at Brighton Girls Prep school, or opposite at Brighton Girls main building. The 18 and 21 bus run along Montpelier Road, or it's an easy walk from Western Road and Seven Dials. Brighton Railway Station is 15 minutes walk away.

When: Every Tuesday 7:30PM - 9:30PM, sometimes followed by a drink at The Cow on Dyke Road for those who want to.

Everyone is welcome to turn up and play - there's no need to pre-register. We have a few rackets available to lend to new and visiting players.

How we play

We have exclusive use of 3 courts for mixed doubles. It's an informal set up - when a court becomes free, hop on and see who has joined you on court. Club regulars will have a general idea of the level of different players, and may suggest particular parings for an evenly matched game.

Most players bring their own racquets, but we do have a few available to borrow if you're new to badminton.

What it costs

Court fees: We charge £9 per session which covers the cost of hiring the hall for two hours.

You can pay using your card or by bank transfer. Logged in members can see the bank transfer details below, or ask us on the night. We do not accept cash.

BLAGSS Membership: New to BLAGSS? you can attend your first session without an annual membership. After your first session you must join BLAGSS in order to continue.
